Chris Simmons description of the multiverse makes perfect sense to me. It is
just the kind of 'population' that is used hypothetically in statistical
analysis. But it doesn't seem to me that it is really any different than the
more conventional view that 'the universe' is randomly choosing a branch.
Actually the latter is usually thought of as the physical system under
consideration randomly taking a state. Dragging the rest of universe along is
a philosophical nicety; just recognizing that the universe includes the system
and hence is different as the system is different.
